Join IPO Education Foundation for an In-Person Awards Celebration!

This Annual Awards Celebration honors accomplishments in the fields of IP, innovation, and creativity. More than 500 IP practitioners, IP professionals, government officials, and attendees from all over the world take part in this fundraising event to support the work of IPOEF to further efforts of promoting innovation and creation by, within, and for underserved, diverse populations. This year the event will take place at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

Attire is black tie optional.

2024 Honorees

Inventors of the Year

IPO Education Foundation’s Inventor of the Year award recognizes the world’s most outstanding recent inventors and how they benefit the nation’s economy and quality of life. The 2024 award goes to the inventors of Mounjaro (Eli Lilly) and Ozempic (Novo Nordisk) for identifying novel compounds targeting incretin hormones to treat diabetes. The honorees from Eli Lilly include Bengt Krister Bokvist, Tamer Coskun, Robert Chadwick Cummins, and Jorge Alsina-Fernandez. The honorees from Novo Nordisk include Jesper Lau, Paw Bloch, and Thomas Kruse Hansen. These medications have made significant positive impacts on the lives of those affected by diabetes by lowering A1C and the risk of major cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, or death in adults also with known heart disease.

Executive of the Year

IPO Education Foundation is pleased to present the 2024 Executive of the Year award to Dr. Martine Rothblatt (United Therapeutics Corp.) for her commitment to the creation, promotion, and protection of intellectual property. Dr. Rothblatt, an inventor and entrepreneur, has made transformative contributions across various fields, including telecommunications with the creation of SiriusXM, biotechnology, and aviation. Dr. Rothblatt founded United Therapeutics in 1996 after her daughter was diagnosed with life threatening pulmonary hypertension. Under her leadership as Chairperson and CEO, the company developed a successful treatment for this condition, impacting and improving the lives of many patients. Beyond her work with United Therapeutics, Dr. Rothblatt has been a driving force in the biotech industry, advancing treatments and research that address significant medical challenges.

IPO Education Foundation has reserved a block of rooms at The Mayflower Hotel, where IPOEF’s annual Awards Celebration is taking place. In order to receive the IPOEF group rate of $299/night + taxes for a single/double room, reservations must be made by November 22^nd, 2024, or until the room block is sold out, whichever comes first. After November 22^nd, rooms will be subject to availability at the standard hotel rate, if available. Hotel Cancellation Policy: 72 hours prior to 11:59pm local time the day of arrival to check in to avoid one night fee.
